QR Networking (Attendee Guide)
Connect with people quickly at events using FairUp's QR networking feature.
What is QR networking?
Instead of exchanging business cards or typing contact info, attendees can show their QR code, scan someone else's, and instantly exchange contact information. Access contacts later in your FairUp account.
How to use QR networking
Showing your QR code
- Log in to your FairUp account
- Go to your profile
- Click My QR Code
- Show your phone to the person scanning
Scanning someone's QR code
- Open FairUp on your phone
- Go to Scan QR
- Point your camera at their QR code
- Their profile appears instantly
- Click Save Contact
After the event
- View all saved contacts in your FairUp account
- Export contacts to CSV
- Connect on LinkedIn or email
When to use QR networking
- At exhibitor booths (exchange info with recruiters)
- During networking sessions (connect with peers)
- At workshops (share with fellow participants)
- Career fair conversations (drop your info)
Privacy
- Your QR code only shows information you've made public
- You can choose what fields to share
- Scanners need your permission to see full contact info
- You can block specific users
QR vs. business cards
QR codes are digital, instant, accurate, sustainable, track who you met, and update automatically. Business cards can be forgotten, cause manual typing errors, are wasteful, leave no record, and become outdated.
Troubleshooting
"My QR code won't scan" β Increase screen brightness, remove screen protectors, try better lighting.
"I scanned someone but didn't save" β Check saved contacts list, re-scan and click Save Contact explicitly.
