QR Code Scanning

Check in attendees and exhibitors in seconds with FairUp's built-in QR scanner. No extra hardware needed β€” just a phone or tablet.

How it works

Every registered attendee receives a unique QR code in their confirmation email. On event day, simply scan the code to mark them as checked in.

Using the QR scanner

  1. Open FairUp on your phone or tablet
  2. Go to your event β†’ Check-in
  3. Point the camera at the attendee's QR code
  4. βœ… Green checkmark = successfully checked in

πŸ’‘ Pro-Tipp: Assign the "Check-In" role to volunteers. They only see the scanner β€” no access to other event data.

What you need

  • A smartphone or tablet with a camera
  • Internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data)
  • A FairUp account with Check-In permissions

No app download required β€” the scanner runs in the browser.

Manual check-in

Can't scan? No problem. Search by name or email in the Attendees list and check in manually.

Badge printing

After check-in, you can print name badges if your event has badge printing enabled. See Host Guide: Printing & Badge Management.

Real-time stats

While you scan, the organizer dashboard updates in real time: total check-ins, no-shows, and check-in time distribution.

FAQ

What if the QR code won't scan?
Ask the attendee to increase their screen brightness. If it still doesn't work, check in manually by searching their name.

Can I use multiple scanners?
Yes β€” assign the Check-In role to multiple team members. Each can scan independently.

Does it work offline?
Scanning requires an internet connection. If Wi-Fi is unstable at your venue, consider using mobile data as a backup.
