Data Export & Deletion

FairUp makes it easy to export your data and respect users' right to be forgotten.

Exporting your data

As an organizer

You can export all event data — see the Exporting Data article.

As an attendee

Attendees can request their data:

1. Log in to their FairUp account
2. Go to Account Settings
3. Click Download My Data
4. Receive a JSON file with all their information

Deleting data

Right to be forgotten

Under DSGVO, users have the right to request deletion of their personal data.

As an attendee: Log in → Account Settings → Delete Account → Confirm. All personal data is permanently removed.

As an organizer: Go to the attendee's profile → Click Delete → Choose Delete Personal Data or Anonymize → Confirm.

What gets deleted

• Name, email, profile — ✅ Deleted
• Registration records — ✅ Deleted
• Check-in history — ✅ Deleted
• Job applications — ✅ Deleted
• Financial records — ⚠️ Retained for 7 years (legal requirement)
• Anonymized analytics — ⚠️ Kept for aggregate statistics

Anonymization vs. deletion

For analytics, you may prefer anonymization: remove personal identifiers but keep aggregate data. This is DSGVO-compliant because data is no longer personal.

Data retention

• Active event data: Indefinitely
• Archived event data: 2 years
• Financial/invoice data: 7 years (legal requirement)
• Deleted account data: Immediate removal
