Understanding Event Types

FairUp supports three event types. Choose the one that fits your needs — you can always change it later.

In-Person Events

Traditional events at a physical venue. Attendees check in via QR code, exhibitors have booths, and you can use badge printing.

Best for: Career fairs, job fairs, networking events, Ausbildungsmessen

💡 Pro-Tipp: Set up the floor plan and booth map before inviting exhibitors — they'll want to see where their booth is.

Virtual Events

Online-only events with Microsoft Teams integration. FairUp creates the meeting link automatically.

Best for: Webinars, online info sessions, remote career fairs

Hybrid Events

Combination of in-person and virtual. Some attendees join at the venue, others join via Teams.

Best for: Events with remote speakers, multi-location fairs, conferences with parallel sessions

FAQ

Can I change the event type after creating it?
Yes — switch between types in your event settings. Some features (like QR check-in) only apply to in-person events.

Do virtual events support breakout rooms?
Breakout rooms are managed through Microsoft Teams, not FairUp. Create separate sessions in FairUp if needed.
